APAM is the Australian Performing Arts Market. Held every two years, the market is moving to Brisbane in 2014 after many years in Adelaide. The event can be a little overwhelming the first time around, but it is an important opportunity to promote your tour ready work. At APAM 2010 we produced a ‘spotlight’ performance of James Berlyn’s Tawdry Heartburn’s Manic Cures. The work went on to perform at WomAdelaide, Perth and Sydney Festivals, and in nine communities across Tasmania for Ten Days on the Island – including the beautiful Kingston Beach (pictured above).
If you want to know more about how APAM works and / or the move to Brisbane I am told it is not too late to RSVP to attend their ‘roadshow’ briefing for APAM 2014 on Thursday this week. Attendees will also hear some words of wisdom – or at least of experience – from Performing Lines WA Producer Rachael Whitworth and other West Australians who have attended APAM in the past.
Read more below from the Australia Council about the Roadshow and email your RSVP to:Danielle Heap email@example.com.
See you there!

NOTICE FROM THE AUSTRALIA COUNCIL – You are invited to the Perth APAM 2014 Road Show
In 2014, for the first time the biennial Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) will be presented in partnership by the Australia Council with Brisbane Powerhouse.
APAM is the major industry event for the performing arts in Australia and the Asia Pacific Region that brings the performing arts sector together to exchange ideas, see and present new work, engage in critical dialogue, build skills and partnerships, find new collaborators, explore touring opportunities, and network with national and international peers.
In 2014, 2016 and 2018, APAM will coincide with the annual World Theatre Festival, a boutique festival of curated independent performances that will offer a unique insight into Australian arts within the Asia Pacific region and a global context.
You are invited to our national road shows to find out more about plans for APAM. The events will include:
· Information from Brisbane Powerhouse on the next context for APAM and key program elements
· Advice on how you can be involved in APAM, including timelines for participation, and the application and selection process
· An industry panel of experienced APAM attendees, who will discuss how to be APAM ready and to make the best of the market
An update from Collette Brennan, Director of Market Development at the Australia Council, on other activities and programs that support market development and touring nationally and internationally.
Each session will include time for questions, so please come prepared.
When: Thursday 28 February 2013
Time: 9.30am – 11.30am
Where: State Theatre Centre of Western Australia, Rehearsal Room 2, 174 – 176 William Street, Perth.
