Great White

The Skeletal System

About

A BOY. A GIRL. A FIN.

“I’m going to eat you”. So begins Great White, with Jack and Lauren trapped in a nightmare that only one of them can escape. When young love meets a giant fin, suddenly life seems large, scary and beautiful.

Nationally-recognised emerging artists The Skeletal System won over critics and audiences alike with this killer tale of blood and heartache out in the deep blue sea. This stunning play by Will O’Mahony sees two tiny people caught in a too huge ocean with a too hungry fish, Great White is a love story that explores fate, human frailty and every swimmer’s worst nightmare.

“If you like intelligent, brilliantly constructed, acutely relevant and deeply affecting theatre, go and see Great White.” – ArtsHub

Reviews

O’Mahony is at a powerful moment in his career.  Work like this and his recent, The Improved, are full of audacity and nerve. (read full review)

There is much fine word-play, not a little humour and some nicely charged sexiness as the three of them wade through designer Alicia Clements’ clever set of inflated beach balls.

All three performers are superb in their easy, confident naturalism – not a gesture or a movement through the ocean of blue balloons is overdone or out of place.
